Yves Van Domburg: “One day I was piloting a large ship into the lock, always a delicate moment. At that moment, the tugboat cable snapped. I saw the captain turn pale and step back.
There was no time to throw out the anchors and going back wasn’t an option either. So I decided to stay on course and enter the lock. It really was a split-second decision.
In the end, everything went well. The ship and infrastructure were both undamaged. My experience certainly came in handy in that situation.”
